Cubs Designate Mike Baxter for Assignment

The Chicago Cubs have designated outfielder Mike Baxter for assignment, according to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune.  The move was made to clear space for Ben Rowen, who was promoted today.

Baxter, 30, is hitting .246/.348/.263 with two RBIs in 66 plate appearances.

The 26-year-old Rowen will provide relief help for the Cubs.  The righty has posted a 1.93 ERA in 46 2/3 innings in Double-A and Triple-A this season.
