Cubs Re-Sign Lefty Clayton Richard

The Chicago Cubs have re-signed left-hander Clayton Richard, according to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune.  Rafael Soriano has also been placed on the DL with right shoulder inflammation.  Richard declined his outright assignment after being designated for assignment by the Cubs last week, hitting the free agent market.

Richard, 31, has posted a 4.29 ERA and a WHIP of 1.38 in 21 innings this season.  He’s also struck out nine and walked five during that span.
