On this day in 1993, Michael Jordan scored 64 points in the Bulls 128-124 loss to the Magic. Orlando rookie center Shaquille O’Neal finished the game with 29 points and 24 rebounds.

On this day in 1972, Roger Staubach led the Dallas Cowboys to their first Super Bowl win, beating the Miami Dolphins 24-3. Staubach completed 12 of 19 passes with a pair of touchdowns.

College Basketball

On this day in 1896, the first ever five-on-five college basketball game was played with Chicago playing against Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
