On this day in 2005, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers put up 62 points in three quarters while the Mavericks scored 61 points during the same time frame, making this is the first time a single player had outscored a team in three quarters since the shot clock was implemented.

MLB

On this day in 1980, the Milwaukee Brewers acquired Rollie Fingers and Pete Vuckovich from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Lary Sorensen, Sixto Lezcano, Dave LaPointe and Dave Green.
