ACC Week 3 Picks: Can Boston College Upset Florida State

This should be a great week for ACC football with at least six major games. The game of the week is Georgia Tech traveling to Florida State, while the Duke-Northwestern game is the sleeper game of the week.

Here’s my ACC Week 3 Picks:

Thursday, September 17

38 #11 Clemson at Louisville 31

This game is an interesting one as Clemson looks to continue their great start to the season, while Louisville looks for their first win of the season after two disappointing losses. The Tigers will have a tough time playing on the road, but they’re too talented to lose this game.

Friday, September 18

21 #9 Florida State at Boston College 24

Boston College almost put a halt to Florida State’s playoff run last season, but this time they’ll face them at Alumni Stadium, where they upset USC around this time last year. The Eagles have a good defensive line that will exploit the Seminoles offensive line and put a lot of pressure on Everett Golson. On offense the Eagles will turn to the run game to wear down the Florida State defense.

Saturday, September 19

24 Illinois at North Carolina 17

27 Wake Forest at Army 14

17 Central Michigan at Syracuse 27

17 #23 Northwestern at Duke 20

I like both of these teams and expect the game to be a very physical defensive game, but I’ll have to go with the home team in this one.

34 #14 Georgia Tech at #8 Notre Dame 31

Georgia Tech has yet to play a quality team and we still don’t know just how good they are this season, while Notre Dame has played back-to-back quality opponents, winning both games. The Fighting Irish have lost key players the last two weeks and they could suffer in this game without them. The Yellow Jackets have a ton of talent and the complexity that their offense causes will serve too tough for Notre Dame to stop.

27 Nebraska at Miami (FL) 31

Nebraska lost a heartbreaker to open the season against BYU, but they rebounded well last week when South Alabama came to town. Now the Cornhuskers travel to Miami to face Brad Kaaya and the Hurricanes. Kaaya should have a big game against the weak Cornhuskers secondary, leading the Hurricanes and Al Golden to a much needed victory.

0 William & Mary at Virginia 45

35 Virginia Tech at Purdue 13

38 NC State at Old Dominion 10

21 Pittsburgh at Iowa 24

Pittsburgh struggled on offense without star running back James Conner last week and will need more offensive production to beat Iowa.

Last Week

12-1

Season

25-2
