Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart has received a pay increase to $1.5 million. The raise will make him one of the highest paid assistant coaches in college football.
Smart will be making the same as LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, and around the same amount as Texas A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis.
The pay increase was approved by the University of Alabama board of trustees compensation committee, and also included pay increases for defensive backs coach Mel Tucker and outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi. Loop will be making $425K and Tucker will be making $500K.
Five other coaches received a raise, but offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin wasn’t among those coaches.
