Alabama and Florida State are set to meet for the opening game in the 2017 season, according to the Palm Beach Post. The schools will receive between $4 and $5 million for the game.
The two teams have combined to win four of the last six national titles, with the Crimson Tied winning three of those. Both teams are also coming off appearances in the inaugural College Football Playoff.
The two teams have met four times with Alabama winning in 1965 and 1974, and Florida State winning in 2007. The teams tied in 1967.
Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher was the offensive coordinator under Nick Saban at LSU from 2000-2004 and this will be the first time the two coaches will meet, barring any matchup in bowl games or the playoffs in the next two seasons.
