The Los Angeles Angles have designated outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis for assignment. Recently promoted third baseman Kyle Kubitza will take over his roster spot.
Nieuwenhuis, 27, could never get it going with the Angles after struggling with the Mets earlier this season. He hit a slash line of .136/.208/.227 in 24 plate appearances. It looks like he may be headed for his third team this season.
Kubitza, 24, will make his big league debut today, after having a good start to the 2015 season in Triple-A Salt Lake. He was traded over from the Braves for Ricardo Sanchez this offseason. Sanchez was highly touted, so the expectations for Kubitza will be high.
