The Los Angeles Angels have acquired outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis for the New York Mets, according to Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com.
The 27-year-old has collected just three hits in 40 plate appearances this season. He has a career slash line of .230//302/.374 with 13 home runs in four seasons with the Mets. New York will receive cash in the deal, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.
