Arizona Stuns #2 Oregon

Arizona Stuns #2 Oregon

I knew that Oregon had problems coming into the game, but I thought they would be able to beat Arizona.  The Wildcats where able to win this game late 31-24.  The Wildcats (5-0) had a 24-14 lead going into the fourth quarter, but the blew that lead with and Oregon tied up the game with 8:21 left.  This is the first season since 1998 that the Wildcats have won their first five games.  It’s the second straight season that the unranked Arizona team has upset Oregon.

Terris Jones-Grigsby scored the go ahead touchdown with 2:54 left scoring on a one yard run.  The Ducks (4-1) had stopped Arizona, but got an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and than a pass interference to set up the touchdown.  The biggest play of the game for the Wildcats was when Scooby Wright III sacked Marcus Mariota. Wright III forced a fumble during the sack and recovered the ball with 2:11 left in the game.  That was the first turnover by Mariota this season.

Freshman running back Nick Wilson ran for two touchdowns and caught another one.  Jones-Grigsby ran for 115 yards on 27 carries with a touchdown and caught four passes for 95 yards.  Arizona had 495 total yards.

Mariota had a good game for the Ducks throwing for 272 and two touchdowns, and he also caught a pass for 26 yards.  Royce Freeman had 19 carries for 85 yards.  Oregon struggled on third down going 4-14, which played a big part in the lose.  Oregon offense had 446 total yards.

Oregon will travel to Pasadena to face #8 UCLA next week at 3:30 p.m. ET.  Oregon could easily lose their second game of the season if they play like they did tonight.

Arizona will host #16 USC next week at 10:30 p.m. ET.  Arizona is looking to go 6-0 for the first time since 1993.
