The Houston Astros have designated third baseman Matt Dominguez for assignment. The move will clear a spot on the 40-man roster for recently promoted Carlos Correa. Dominguez has yet to play in the big leagues this season, after being the starting third baseman for two straight seasons.
The 25-year-old has struggled at Triple-A Fresno, posting a slash line of .251/.289/.371 with four homers and 26 RBIs.
The Giants, Brewers, Tigers, Indians and the White Sox are all teams that could go after the former first-round pick.
