Ben Revere Could Be Heading to Tornoto

The Philadelphia Phillies have already traded Jonathan Papelbon and Cole Hamels and now might be dealing Ben Revere. Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com is reporting that trade talks between the Phillies and the Toronto Blue Jays are “heating up.” Most people around baseball expect Revere to be traded today, as the Phillies look to add more prospects to their rebuild. The Orioles are still interested in Revere even after trading for Gerardo Parra, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.

The Blue Jays need a left fielder as Michael Saunders is out with a knee injury and Chris Colabello struggles in the field.

Revere, 27, is hitting a slash of .298/.334/.374 with 24 stolen bases this season. The speedster is earning $4.1 million this season and is under team control through 2017. The Blue Jays might have to give up a lot more than they want to bring in Revere.
