Big Ten Championship Prediction

Ohio State has lost two starting quarterbacks this season, and have been able to overcome both losses.  The Buckeyes are a win away from possibly going to the inaugural playoffs.  Wisconsin looks to build on their seven game winning streak and win their fourth Big 10 championship since 2010.

Ohio State will have to rely on sophomore quarterback Cardale Jones, who’s only thrown 19 passes in his career.  The Buckeyes will need a great game from Jones, if they want to take home their first Big Ten championship since 2009.

Wisconsin will rely on Heisman candidate Melvin Gordon, who last week became the 17th player in NCAA history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season.  Wisconsin will run the ball the majority of the game, and the Badgers rarely throw the ball.

Wisconsin’s defense is also been stellar this season, ranking fourth in the country allowing around 17 points per game.  Ohio State defense has struggled lately, giving up an average of 29 points in the last four games.  The Buckeyes defense has especially been poor against good running backs, giving up 228 yards and three touchdowns to Indiana running back Tevin Coleman earlier this season.   Wisconsin bread and butter is the run and I see no way that Ohio State will shut down Gordon.

I see Wisconsin winning this game, with Ohio State’s defensive struggles against the run and a inexperienced quarterback starting, will make it too tough for the Buckeyes to beat a good team.
