The Atlanta Braves have designated outfielder Eric Young Jr. for assignment, and have activated Joey Terdoslavich from the 15-day disabled list.
Young, 30, made the team out of Spring Training, but has struggled this season with a slash line of .169/.229/.273 in 85 plate appearances. The success of Cameron Maybin made it easier for the Braves to make the move, as they no longer have to worry about a true centerfielder.
Terdoslavich, 26, has seen 103 big league plate appearances and has posted a batting average of .225. He had a short rehab stint with Single-A Advanced, Double-A and Triple-A. He hit .310 in 36 plate appearances. Terdoslavich looks like an upgrade at the plate but the Braves will miss the speed of Young.
