The Atlanta Braves have designated Nick Masset and Dana Eveland for assignment, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com. The team has also called up David Carpenter and Arodys Vizcaíno.
The move comes after Masset gave up three runs on two hits and a walk in the tenth inning of Atlanta’s game against the Phillies on Sunday. Masset, 33, pitched 15 1/3 innings for the Braves, posting a 6.46 ERA. Eveland, 31, on the other hand gave up the sac fly that scored the Phillies first run. He posted a 5.40 ERA in 3 1/3 innings for the Braves.
Vizcaino, 24, is coming off an 80-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball’s drug policy. He pitched one inning in a start for Triple-A, giving up two earned runs on three hits. This will be his first major league action since September 22nd of last year.
Carpenter, 27, has been great for Triple-A Gwinnett this season, posting a 0.73 ERA over 37 innings.
