The Atlanta Braves have optioned Daniel Castro to Triple-A Gwinnett and have promoted Eury Perez. Perez is in the Braves lineup tonight for their game against the Red Sox.
Castro, 22, got one at-bat in Wednesday’s game against Boston collecting a hit. He was most likely sent down after the Braves received news that shortstop Andrelton Simmons was going to be able to play tonight.
Perez, 25, has four hits in 26 career plate appearances since 2012. The outfielder is also a threat on the base paths, stealing five bags during his time in the majors. Perez had a slash line of .296/.370/.376 with 28 stolen bases in 60 games for Gwinnett.
