The Atlanta Braves have optioned Mike Foltynewicz to Triple-A Gwinnett and have selected Daniel Castro’s contract, according to the team.
Foltynewicz, 23, has given up four runs or more in his last three starts, while giving up four homers during that same span. His struggles have come from command issues, leading to walking to many batters and allowing big innings. He has pitched 52 innings for the Braves this season, while posting a 5.19 ERA and giving up eight homers.
This will be Foltynewicz second stint in Triple-A this year. He went 0-3 with a 2.08 ERA earlier this season.
Castro, 22, is hitting .330 with a .373 on-base percentage in 234 plate appearance at the Triple-A and Double-A.
