The Atlanta Braves announced today that first baseman Freddie Freeman has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained oblique. Righty Jason Frasor has also been placed on the 15-day DL with a right shoulder strain. The team has recalled Joey Terdoslavich and Ryan Kelly from Triple-A Gwinnett.
This is the second time this season that Freeman has gone on the DL in the past two months, after playing in all 162 games last year. You have to wonder if Atlanta will consider shutting down their star for the rest of the season with the team already being out of playoff contention.
Freeman, 25, is hitting a slash of .284/.348/.500 with 14 homers and 45 RBIs in 322 plate appearances this season.
