The Atlanta Braves have promoted recently signed David Aardsma to the big leagues, and have optioned Cody Martin to Triple-A Gwinnett, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com.
Atlanta signed the 33-year-old on June 7th, after he was released by the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Braves called him up after one appearance in Gwinnet, where he threw a perfect inning. The bullpen in Atlanta has been the worst in the big leagues, and they’re in need of quality arms. The biggest question mark on Aardsma is that he hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2013 when he played for the Mets.
Aardsma enters tonight’s game with a career record of 15-17 to with a 4.23 ERA and 69 saves.
