Breaking Down the 2015 Chicago Bears Roster

2 of 4

Offense:

The Bears did not make any changes to the quarterback position from last season so Jay Cutler will be leading the charge once again in 2015. There were some changes to the backup running back position with Jacquizz Rodgers backing up Matt Forte. Look for rookie Jeremy Langford to get some touches and eventually overtake Rodgers for the second string spot.

The wide receiver position has been a headache for the Bears so far in the preseason. It started with White having surgery on his left shin to repair a stress fracture. Alshon Jeffery is supposed to be the team’s true number one wide receiver after Brandon Marshall was traded, but he has been hurt and is hopeful to play in Sunday’s game against the rival Packers. It will be nice to see the newcomer Eddie Royal be reunited with Cutler. Bears are also counting on improvement from third year player Marquess Wilson. With White on the PUP list, a door was opened for another rookie wide receiver to make the roster in Illinois State product Cameron Meredith.

At tight end Martellus Bennett will be the starter. I am excited to see how the team will use Zach Miller this season. Miller is solid and can make plays as long as he can stay healthy which was the problem for him last season. Third string tight end Khari Lee was just acquired on September 2nd from the Houston Texans for a 6th round draft pick. The only big news on the offensive line was that Charles Leno beat out Jordan Mills for a roster spot and that Pro Bowl guard Kyle Long might make the move to right tackle.
