Cam Newton has inked a five-year, $103 million extension with the Carolina Panthers, according to a team press release. The deal also includes a $22.5 million signing bonus, with a $7.5 million roster bonus due on June 6th, and $1 million in salary for 2015, according to Adam Schefter.
The deal also includes a $60 million in guaranteed money and the contract features a pay of $67.6 million in the first three years, which is the highest ever for an NFL contract.
Newton, 26, has thrown for 82 career touchdowns while rushing for 33 in his first four seasons for Carolina. He has a completion rate of 59.5 percent with 14,426 yards on 1,144 completions.
The two-time Pro Bowler has taken the Panthers to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.
