The news broke yesterday that Chris Paul will re-sign with the Clippers so he can be traded to the Houston Rockets.
In return for CP3, Houston are sending Sam Dekker, Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams to Los Angeles.
The trade surprised many in the league as the Point Guard was assumed to be heading to San Antonio.
But the opportunity to play with James Harden, and potentially other stars in Houston, was too good of an opportunity to turn down.
The interesting aspect, is that they now have two Point Guards in the backcourt, who both like to have the ball…all the time. CP3 and The Beard are ball handlers by nature, so will have to adapt to playing off the ball more often, but seemingly sharing Point Guard duties.
Rumors are also flying that the Rockets could also acquire either Paul George or Carmelo Anthony, seemingly forming a super team.
Paul expressed his desire to play with Melo last week, and tried to force a move for the unsettled Small Forward at the trade deadline last season. Doc Rivers was not so keen.
Paul George is still on the table. Despite his long-term desire to play for the Lakers, the opportunity to team up with CP and Harden could be too good to turn down.
Despite the loss of their star Point Guard, the Clippers are still hoping to retain Blake Griffin. Whether they keep Blake or not, LA has taken a huge hit in losing their best player, The Clippers are on the verge of a rebuild.
