The Cincinnati Reds have designated utility player Chris Dominguez for assignment and have called up catcher Kyle Skipworth, according to the team’s twitter page.
Dominguez, 28, batted .261/.261/.522 in 23 plate appearances for the Reds. The California native signed a minor league deal with the team during goth offseason after the Giants released him.
The 25-year-old Skipworth will be making his second appearance in the major leagues, as he got four plate appearances for the Marlins in 2013, but didn’t record a hit.
