The Philadelphia Phillies and Texas Rangers are discussing a Cole Hamels trade, but a deal is not “close” at the time, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.
Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports says that the Rangers are the favorite to land the lefty, who probably pitched his final game for the Phillies yesterday, throwing a no-hitter against the Cubs.
Right now there are five teams with interest in Hamels, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports: Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants.
The Rangers and the Dodgers have emerged as favorites for Hamels, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN.
