The D-Backs have agreed to trade Miguel Montero to Cubs

The Diamondbacks have agreed to trade catcher Miguel Montero to the Cubs for two players yet to be named. Jefferson Mejia is one of the players that the Cubs will be trading away, he’s a 6’7″ right handed pitcher out of the Dominican Republic.

Montero, 31, hit .243 with 13 homers and 72 RBIs last season, making the All-Star game for the second time in his career. He’s struggled the past two seasons at the plate, after hitting .286 in 2012.

Miguel Montero speciality is framing pitches, and he’s not bad at throwing base stealers out either, leading the league in 2011 with a 40 percent caught stealing percentage.

I will have to wait and see what the Cubs give up to see if I agree with this trade or not, but right now this is a good move for the Cubs. It looks like Chicago will be a contender in 2015.
