The Chicago Cubs have acquired Dan Haren from the Miami Marlins, according to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times and Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald. Spencer reports that shortstop Elliot Soto and right-handed pitcher Ivan Pineyro are going to Miami in the deal. The clubs have yet to confirm the deal.
Haren, 34, is having his best season since 2011 with an ERA of 3.42 over 129 innings. The righty also has a WHIP of 1.09 and a 7-7 record. The three-time All-Star’s strikeout rate is down to 6.1 strikeouts per nine innings.
