Dansby Swanson’s Scouting Report
Hitting
Swanson is probably the best hitter in this year’s draft. He has a quick quiet swing that constantly results in line drives, which results in doubles and runs. Swanson tied Nevada’s Kewby Meyer for first last year in doubles with 27. He looks like a hitter that could consistently hit .290 plus at the big league level. Right now he looks like a player that will hit 12-15 homers a year, but he could develop even more power at the pro level. Swanson currently projects as a leadoff batter.
Fielding
Swanson can play both shortstop and second, but may lack the arm strength to play short at the big league level. He displays soft hands and great range at both positions. The team that drafts Swanson will try him out at short, but he projects to be a second baseman at the pro level.
Baserunning
Swanson is a very smart runner that projects to steal 30-plus bases a season at the big league level.

Dansby Swanson’s Best Fit
Swanson’s best fit is the Colorado Rockies. There has already been rumors of the Rockies shopping All-Star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and Colorado will be seeking a replacement. Swanson would be the perfect fit, even if he doesn’t develop into a shortstop. His ability to hit will favor what Colorado fans have become accustom to in Tulowitzi. He will also bring a winning attitude, something the Rockies have lacked the last few years.
