New York Mets third baseman David Wright will begin his rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on Monday, according to Michael Collegian of MLB.com.
Wright, 32, has been out of the Mets lineup since April 15th due to spinal stenosis, which is the narrowing of the spine. He also strained his right hamstring on April 14th which sent him to the disabled list.
Wright is hitting .333/.371/.424 with one homer and four RBIs in 35 plate appearances this season. The Mets want Wright to have about 30 at-bats during his rehab assignment.
New York has been just fine without Wright and are currently 59-52 and first in the NL East.
