On this day in 2004, the Texas Rangers traded star Alex Rodriguez to the New York Yankees for Alfonso Soriano and Joaquin Arias. The deals came after the Boston Red Sox tried to land Rodriguez for Manny Ramirez, but the players association objected to the deal since A-Rod’s contract would need to be restructured.
