On this day in 1996, Charles Barkley scored his 20,000th career point, posting 30 points in a 107-102 Phoenix Suns victory over the New Jersey Nets.
MLB
On this day in 2006, the New York Yankees signed Johnny Damon, who was a former Boston Red Sox outfielder. Damon took out an ad in the Boston Globe thanking the Red Sox fans for their loyalty and support. The Yankees signed Damon to a four year, $52 million deal.
NFL
On this day in 2004, the NFC beat the AFC 55-52 in the 34 NFL Pro Bowl. Rams quarterback Marc Bulger won the MVP of the game, throwing four touchdown passes.
