On this day in 1996, the Dallas Cowboys beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-17 in Super Bowl XXX, becoming the first team in NFL history to win three Super Bowls in a four year period. Larry Brown won the MVP, becoming the first corner in NFL history to win the award. Brown had two key interceptions in the game.
NBA
On this day in 1998, Indiana Pacers shooting guard Reggie Miller collected his 1,000 career steal in the Pacers 85-84 victory the Washington Wizards. Miller would on go to get 505 more steals in his career.
MLB
On this day in 1953, St. Louis Cardinals owner Fred Saigh is found guilty of income tax evasion and sentenced to 15 months in jail. Saigh would go onto sale the team to Anheuser-Busch that same year. Anheuser-Busch would own the team until 1996.
On this day in 2008, the Rays and James Shields finalized a four-year deal worth $11.25 million.
