The Los Angeles Dodgers have called up prospect Jose Peraza to make his major league debut starting at second base tonight, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times. The Dodgers lost Howie Kendrick to a hamstring injury and the team placed him on the disabled list earlier today.

Peraza, 21, was traded over to the Dodgers from the Braves in the trade that sent Alex Wood and Mat Latos to Los Angeles and Hector Olivera to Atlanta.
The second baseman is hitting a slash of .302/.327/.398 in 469 plate appearances this season. He also had 27 stolen bases during that span.
We ranked Peraza ninth in our preseason rankings. He’s not ranked as high in our updated rankings due out soon.
