Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin has stepped down, effective immediately, from his role as the team’s GM and will assume an advisory role. Melvin has been the Brewers GM since September 2002. The team is also committed to keeping Craig Counsell as manager, no matter who the new GM is.
Milwaukee was 1,004-1,052 during Melvin’s time as GM, that record in 18th in baseball during that time period. The team also made two playoff appearances and had one 90 win season. The Brewers did have five manager during that span and one of those guys was Ned Yost, who’s been very successful in Kansas City.
