Fantasy Football: Week 8 Start’Em or Sit’Em
Reminders for this week
Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons will kick off a 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday.
The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants are off this week.
Wide receivers A.J. Green and Calvin Johnson hope to play this week.
Key Injuries or replacements and who to start in their place
Buffalo Bills running backs C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson will both be out for the Bill week 8 game against the Jets. Anthony Dixon will get the start for the Bills, Dixon is in his fifth NFL season and his first with the Bills. The Jets have been awful this season, but their bright spot has been their run defense. The Jets have played passing teams the past three weeks, and I would give Dixon the start this week. I would pick up Dixon or backup Bryce Brown, as Spiller and Jackson will be out for an extended period of time.
The Washington Redskins have benched Kurt Cousins, and Colt McCoy will start in his place. Robert Griffin III is targeting a week 11 return, so if you need a quarterback I recommend picking up McCoy. McCoy led the Redskins to a come back win against the Titans last week, completing 11 of his 12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown.
Week 8 Sleepers
Darren McFadden – McFadden isn’t having his greatest season, but luckily for him the Raiders play the Browns this week. The Browns are last in the NFL in rush defense, so look for McFadden to have a great week.
Kyle Orton – Orton is starting for the fourth straight week, and he has been solid so far this season. He has not thrown for less than 283 yards and he has thrown five touchdowns in those three games. Orton is also fortunate enough to have a great receiver in Sammy Watkins.
Start’Em or Sit’Em
Austin Davis
The Rams face the Kansas City Chiefs this week, who have the best passing defense in the NFL this season. Davis has performed well for the last three weeks, and he torched the Seahawks last week, who have the fifth ranked passing defense. Davis threw two touchdown passes and no interceptions against Seattle. Davis has taking advantage of his opportunity and I look for him to continue his success.
Start’Em
Derek Carr
Carr hasn’t done a bad job for the Raiders, but he lacks the talent around him. Carr has had two games this season, where he threw two touchdowns or more. He has also thrown a pick in four of his six games.
Sit’Em
Denard Robinson
Robinson will likely be the starting running back for the Jaguars this week. He put on a show at home against Cleveland last week, rushing for 127 yards and a touchdown. It was Robinson first game of the season that he got more than nine carries, he had 22. Jacksonville plays Miami this week, who has a very good rushing defense, but Robinson is elusive and hard to tackle. Robinson may have won the starting job, after his performance last week.
Start’Em
Russell Wilson
The Seahawks are facing a struggling Carolina Panthers, and Wilson is coming off his best game of the season. Wilson has proved that he has his best games, when he has to bring his team back. But this week the Panthers are just to bad, and I think Wilson will have a field day.
Start’Em
Jimmy Graham
I know some people took Graham in the first round this season, and expected him to have some unreal season. Graham hasn’t done much this season, besides two games. The Saints play the Packers this week, I don’t expect New Orleans to continue to struggle. I think that Drew Brees will have a field day and Graham will be his number one target.
