The Miami Marlins have acquired Fernando Rodney from the San Diego Padres, according to Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball. Keith Law of ESPN was the first to report that a deal was close. Rodney, 39, is having an incredible season, posting a 0.31 ERA in 28 2/3 innings, while giving up no home runs and striking out 33. The clubs have confirmed the deal with Miami sending righty Chris Paddack to San Diego.
Paddack, 20, is having an unreal season, posting an ERA of 0.95 in six starts over 28 1/3 innings with an unbelievable 48-to-2 K/BB ratio.
