Notre Dame over Texas
Notre Dame looked like a team that has the talent to make a run at a playoff appearance with their dismantling of Texas on Saturday night. This is not a dominant Texas program anymore but they have plenty of speed and still have their football rich state at their disposal for recruiting purposes. Notre Dame was definitely the more polished team in this matchup but they surprisingly also looked like the faster team. The Irish did not miss a beat with the departure of Everett Golson to Florida State. Malik Zaire showed that he was more than just a running quarterback and threw for over 300 yards against Charlie Strong’s defense. It wasn’t all good news for Notre Dame though as they lost starting running back Tarean Folston for the season. However, Notre Dame appears to have great depth at running back as backups Josh Adams and C.J Prosise combined for 147 yards and two touchdowns in the 38-3 victory.
