Giants blowout Royals 11-4, tie up series at 2

The Giants scored nine runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh inning to clobber the Royals 11-4 and tie up the series at a game apiece.  The Giants trailed 4-1 going into the bottom of the third, after Kansas City scored four in the top of the inning.

Jason Vargas pitched four innings, giving up three runs on six hits.  Brandon Finnegan pitched the seventh inning for the Royals, giving up five runs on five hits.

Ryan Vogelsong pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits.  The Giants bullpen shut down the Royals in the final 6 1/3 innings of the game.  Yusmeiro Petit got the win, after giving up just two hits in three innings.

The Giants had 16 hits and four San Francisco players had a multi-hit game.  Hunter Pence led the team with three hits and three RBIs.  Gregor Blanco and Joe Panik each had two hits, with Panik hitting a double and driving in two runs.  The Giants offense was so dominate that they left 11 on base and still scored 11 runs.

Kansas City had 12 hits, but left nine on base and were 4-11 with runners in scoring position.  Salvador Perez and Eric Hosmer each had three hits and one RBI.  Omar Infante added two RBIs on a bases loaded single.

Game 5 is Sunday at 8:07 p.m. ET on Fox.  James Shields will pitch for the Royals and Madison Bumgarner will pitch for the Giants.  Bumgarner has been spot on so far this postseason, his only lose this postseason was at home.
