The San Francisco Giants have placed second baseman Joe Panik on the disabled list with lower back inflammation. The team has also called-up Kelby Tomlinson from Triple-A.
The 24-year-old All-Star is hitting a slash of .309/.374/.443 with seven home runs and 35 RBIs in 423 plate appearances. Tomlinson and Ehire Adrianza will most likely take his place at second for the Giants.
