Cuban infielder Hector Olivera has passed his physical with the Dodgers, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. Rosenthal also said that Olivera is schedule to work out in Arizona for a few weeks before his minor league assignment begins.
The 29-year-old signed a six-year, $62.5 million deal with the Dodgers back in March. Olivera was a dominant hitter in the Cuban National Series, posting a career .323 batting average to go with a .407 on-base percentage in his 10 seasons. He has been out of the game for over a year and a half and the major league game is so much different. It will be interesting to see what Olivera can do for Los Angeles this season or if he even plays at the big league level.
