Jason Grilli to Sign with Braves

The Atlanta Braves have agreed to sign right handed reliever Jason Grilli to a contract worth $8 million for two years. The deal also includes a $3 million option for 2017 with a $250K buyout.

Grilli pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Los Angeles Angels last season, posting a 4.00 ERA and going 1-5 combined in 2014.

Jason Grilli best years were from 2011 to 2013 when he pitched for the Pirates, he never had an ERA over 2.91 and saved 33 games in 2013.

This is a good pickup for the Braves, as they’ve completely reshaped their philosophy. Roger McDowell is the best in the game at fixing struggling pitchers, and I think he will be able to turn Grilli and Jim Johnson back into the pitchers they were just a few years ago. The Braves are still missing another bat on the bench and another starting pitcher.
