The Toronto Blue Jays have designated lefty Jeff Francis for assignment and called up Todd Redmond, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsbet.ca.
The 34-year-old, pitched 12 innings for the Jays, giving up nine earned runs on 16 hits and walking five. The one bright spot for Francis was his strikeout rate of 11.3. The Blue Jays are the fifth team that Francis has played on in the past three seasons.
Redmond has already pitched in the big leagues this season, allowing eight runs in just 4 1/3 innings.
