Kentucky Names Patrick Towles Starting QB

Kentucky named redshirt junior Patrick Towles as their starting quarterback, coach Mark Stoops announced on Monday. Towles started 12 games for the Wildcats before, throwing for 2,718 yards and 14 touchdowns with nine interceptions.

Towles beat out freshman Drew Barker for the job. The quarterback competition was close during the spring, but Stoops preferred to go with the more experienced player.

The Wildcats will open their season against Louisiana-Lafayette on September 5.
