Marlins on Verge of Acquiring Martin Prado

The New York Yankees and Miami Marlins are on the verge of completing a deal that would send Martin Prado to the Marlins in exchange for Garret Jones and Nathan Eovaldi. The Marlins would also receive David Phelps in the deal.

Prado, 31, hit a combined .282 with 12 home runs and 58 RBIs last season for the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Yankees. He was great in his 37 games with New York hitting .316 with seven homers and 16 RBIs. Prado is still owed $11 million a year in 2015 and 2016.

Garrett Jones would be a decent addition for the Yankees, who would have him under contract for just one season. Jones hit .246 with 15 homers and 53 RBIs last season for Miami. Nathan Eovaldi is the other player that the Yankees will get in the deal. He will be 25 at the start of the season and he won’t be a free agent until 2018. He went 6-14 with a 4.37 ERA in 2014.
