The New York Mets have acquired Eric Young Jr. from the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations. The outfielder/infielder will report to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 30-year-old previously played with the Mets from 2013-2014 posting a slash of .242/.310/.321 with 68 stolen bases during that span. Young only had 85 big league plate appearances with the Braves this season and he’s spent most of the year in Triple-A. He batted .169/.229/.273 with three stolen bases during his time in Atlanta.
The Mets don’t have much speed coming off the bench and could use Young in a pinch-runner type role when the rosters expand in September.
