The New York Mets have designated Dillon Gee for assignment, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.
The Mets have been attempting to trade the 29-year-old righty, but probably realized that it might be impossible after yesterday’s game against the Braves. Gee gave up eight runs on 11 hits in 3 2/3 innings.
Gee was 0-3 with a 5.90 ERA in 39 2/3 innings this season. He was moved to the bullpen earlier this season and had made his first start since June 3 yesterday.
