Cleveland Indians designed hitter Daniel Murphy is looking for his 1,000th career game today at Progressive Field, as the Indians take on Minnesota Twins at 7:10 p.m. ET. Murphy isn’t in the starting lineup but could still have an opportunity as a pinch hitter to achieve the feat.
Texas Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is looking for his 1,000th career game today at Tropicana Field, as the Rangers take on the Tampa Bay Rays at 7:10 p.m. ET.
Kansas City Royals second baseman Omar Infante is looking for his 500th career RBI today at Comerica Park, as the Royals take on the Detroit Tigers at 7:08 p.m. ET. Infante will be batting seventh against Tigers pitcher David Price.

Reds first baseman Joey Votto has been suspended for one game for making contact with an umpire, he will serve the suspension tonight.

The Mets have placed Dillion Gee on the disabled list with a groin strain and will call up number one prospect Noah Syndergaard to start on Tuesday.

The Mets have shutdown David Wright after the third baseman experienced lower back pain. Wright underwent an MRI that revealed no structural damage. Wright has already missed over three weeks due to a hamstring.

Tampa Bay Rays
Rays pitcher Alex Cobb will undergo Tommy John Surgery. The right-hander will miss the remainder of the 2015 season and will most likely be out until June or July of next season.

The A’s have designated outfielder Alex Hassan for assignment.

Kansas City Royals
The Kansas City Royals have placed lefty Jason Vargas on the disabled list. Vargas strained his flexor muscle in his left elbow. Fortunately for Vargas there’s no damage to his UCL.
Cleveland Indians
The Indians signed Carlos Marmol to a minor league deal. Marmol was considered a top relief pitcher from 2007 till 2010.

The Marlins have designated infielder Reid Brignac for assignment and will reinstate Christian Yelich from the disabled list.

St. Louis Cardinals
Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter will miss this weekend’s series against the Pittsburgh Pirates due to fatigue and accelerated heart rate. Carpenter is expected to join the team on Tuesday for the start of their series agains the Cleveland Indians.
