On this day in 1995, Houston Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon collected his 10,000th career rebound, pulling down nine in a 122-117 Houston loss to the New York Knicks.
On this day in 1996, Phoenix Suns power forward Charles Barkley pulled down his 10,000th career rebound in a 98-94 OT win for the Suns over the Vancouver Grizzles. Barkley also became the 10th player in NBA history to score 20,000 points and have 10,000 career rebounds.
MLB
On this day in 2014, the Cincinnati Reds and Homer Bailey avoided arbitration by agreeing to a $105 million, six-year deal, including a $25 million mutual option for 2020. Bailey has thrown two no-hitters and would go on to post a 3.71 ERA with a 9-5 record in 2014.
