On this day in 1962, Los Angeles Lakers small forward Elgin Baylor scored an NBA Finals record 61 points in a 126-121 win over the Boston Celtics in Game 5.

On this day in 1997, Philadelphia 76ers point guard Allen Iverson scored 40 or more points for the fifth straight game.  He extended his rookie record by scoring 40 in a 131-110 loss to the Washington Bullets.
