On this day in 1982, the Atlanta Braves set a National League record by starting the season with their 11th straight win, defeating the Houston Astros 6-5.

On this day in 1987, Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Mike Schmidt hit his 500th career home run with two outs in the ninth inning.   The homer helped rally Philadelphia to an 8-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

On this day in 2007, Chicago White Sox southpaw Mark Buehrle throw a no-hitter against the Texas Rangers.

On this day in 1991, Utah Jazz point guard John Stockton recorded 11 assists to finish the season with 1,164 assists, breaking his own NBA record from the previous season.
