On this day in 1967, Philadelphia 76ers center Wilt Chamberlain shot 18-for-18 from the field in a 149-118 Sixers win over the Baltimore Bullets. The achievement was a record for field goals in a game without a miss.

On this day in 1998, Houston Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon became the eight player in NBA history to play in a 1,000 games or more for the same team. John Stockton holds the record playing in 1,504 for the Utah Jazz.

MLB

On this day in 1966, USC pitcher Tom Seaver signed with the Atlanta Braves, but the deal would be later voided by commissioner William Eckert. Seaver would go onto be selected by the New York Mets in a special draft. Seaver would win 311 games in his career, posting a 2.86 ERA.
